Working with couples and individuals
I want to help couples fall in love again. I want to help individuals and families find joy in their close connections and relationships.
To accomplish this, I use an integrated approach based on attachment theory and the Emotion Focused Therapy framework. In addition, I often incorporate other therapeutic approaches such as EMDR and DBT to help with specific needs such as past trauma, depression, anxiety, physical or mental health issues, and other challenges that interfere with healthy relationships. I often have clients with chronic medical issues that come in for help and to cope with the stress it has on their family relationships. There is a strong connection to feeling better in a client’s emotional space and having reduced medical symptoms.
The first visit often brings an immediate relief, a sense of hope, and safety. Habits and actual brain structural changes occur over time, as therapy continues to help heal, restore, or create new neurological pathways and thinking patterns. This combined with improved secure emotional attachment to loved ones enhances the process. Just like it takes effort at the gym to build a strong physical body it will take some effort. I often provide resources for my clients to use at home to continue the process of healing in between sessions and for years to come.
Positive changes in thoughts and interactions with others can bring lasting peace and happiness. If you are ready to take this journey please call to make an appointment.
I grew up on a small farm in Bear Lake, Idaho. As an adult I have lived in Arizona, Oregon, Utah, and most recently Wyoming. I enjoy travel, being outdoors, painting, and photographing beautiful landscapes. However, I spend most of my free time chasing my 2 daughters and our husky up mountain trails or helping my girls pursue their interests in academics and music.
