Jeffery Allen, LMFT

Jeff’s experience:

Jeffrey brings a wealth of experience and expertise to CVC through his education and therapeutic experience. Throughout his schooling, Jeff was involved in research focused on the parent-child relationship; specifically the dynamics of helicopter parenting college age children and the impacts of such an approach. Jeff has experience working with clients that have many different types of struggles from self-harm, anxiety, depression, substance use, and trauma. Additionally, Jeff has experience in working with developmentally delayed students and nonverbal learning disorders.

Jeff sees therapy through a systems perspective, borrowing heavily from the third wave of behavioral therapy like Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) as well as evocative empathy and emotionally focused therapy. Jeff is also certified in EMDR and Eagala equine therapy and uses them often.

Jeff believes true therapeutic work and progress must come from within the client. He has a passion for walking with people on their therapeutic journey and is honored to be a part of such work. Jeff enjoys spending his free time with his wife and children in the great outdoors, especially fly fishing. Jeff believes we are all endowed with gifts from our Creator and is passionate about helping others learn to use their gifts for the betterment of self and of society as a whole.
